Camiguin, Philippines

Off the northern coast of Mindanao is the island province of Camiguin, one of the Philippines' many natural wonders. An island that originated from the volcanoes that surround it, Camiguin is full of natural wonders that are a must-see for travelers. Waterfalls, hot springs, dive spots, mountains and beautiful white sand beaches comprise the tiny island which makes it an ideal destination for visitors looking to explore nature without having to travel long distances between attractions. Pay a visit and bask in the sun at the famed White Island, a breathtaking sandbar with an imposing view of Mount Hibok-Hibok and Mount Vulcan. Travel around by jeepney and explore the city and market and don't forget to try the Lanzones, a sweet fruit that is grown all over the province. Check out the Kitabawasan Falls and the many hot springs in Camiguin and take a dip to ease your body and relax. Explore the old church ruins in Catarman or charter a bangka and explore the island by sea. Divers will want to explore the rich dive spots and the historic sunken cemetery that sank during the creation of Mount Vulcan during the late 1800s. Unspoiled by large commercial tourism, Camiguin is one of those places where you can explore freely without feeling claustrophobic from vendors and peddlers hounding you while you're trying to go around in peace. A truly unique place to visit whether you are backpacking or going on a weekend getaway with loved ones.
