The capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is an energetic city like no other. Notably diverse in its cuisine, architecture, geography, and people, KL is a true melting pot of different cultures. With a general population made up of Malay, Chinese, Indian, other ethnic groups, and a large population of expats and foreigners, Malaysia's capital can be frenetic and maybe even a bit overwhelming but what really makes you fall in love with the place is the people. Warm and easygoing, the people of Kuala Lumpur are always happy to help out tourists with directions and information. The fact that a large part of the population speak english is also a plus for most travellers. KL is located about an hour away by train to the international airport so its best to plan accordingly when making travel plans.

Rent a car to get around so you can hit all the great spots to visit. See the architecture and botanical gardens of Putrajaya, a reclaimed area used to house many of Malaysia's government agencies. To get away from the heat, travellers can make their way up to Genting Highlands for cooler climate and activities for the whole family. Go around and witness the spectacular views of this hill town and check out the theme park, casinos, malls and other fun activities Genting has to offer. Of course a visit to Kuala Lumpur would not be complete without paying a visit to the iconic Petronas Towers right in the heart of the capital. For many, the best part of KL is the food and the people, and the best way to immerse yourself in both is simply by walking the busy streets and feeding your senses with all the vibrancy of Malaysia's city life. Try out the delicious snacks and dishes at the hawker stalls, go shopping, grab a hot bowl of laksa, or get a drink at one of the many popular nightclubs and bars in Bukit Bintang. Kuala Lumpur is one of those destinations where you get to experience so much from a single city because of how wonderfully diverse yet seamlessly integrated all the cultures in it are. An undoubtedly international city with it's own distinct Asian flavor.
