Can you tell us a little bit about how access travel started?
I started access travel ph when I was 19, and I’ve been taking photos since I was 10. So I decided to choose Instagram because there were no Instagrammers, influencers and anyone at that time so yeah I just took advantage of that. So up to today, it’s the same business structure. I take photos, I take videos, I post them for inspiration then people start booking with us. Then last year, I started leading my own tours, I lead tours to countries such as Iceland, New Zealand and South Africa and we’re launching more tours next year which means that’s the edge I have; I use myself to attract people to travel with us.

Winter or summer outfit?
I’m kind of both. I can’t really choose because I travel everywhere. There’s nothing to choose from because I work out a lot which means I love wearing bikinis, shorts with shirts. My style is very basic and I don’t like complicating things. I’m that kind of girl.
I have basics for everything but for my business meetings, for my talks, just suits. I don’t wear dresses because everyone can wear dresses but I think with a suit you should have a personality to match it.

Have you traveled alone? Where are the best places to travel alone?
Yeah! I mean most of the time I travel alone. I get a car and just drive everywhere in Europe. Not in Asia, I don’t drive in Asia. In Asia, I always get a private guide and private driver because I don’t trust other people when they drive. But in Europe and the US, I have my own car. I’ve traveled the whole of Europe alone, I did it three years ago with no one for 4 months.

Any travel hacks?
Don’t overpack! No one cares! I mean that’s how I am. I am in a place to experience it, not to waste three hours in the morning dressing up. I really think life is easier when things are simpler but if you’re into making things complicated, just stay at home. You don’t want to waste time waking up at 5 in the morning to curl your hair. I don’t understand women, I’m sorry. I’m a girl but I don’t understand girls who wake up really early in the morning just to put on a lot of makeup while on trips.
Any apps for travel you would recommend?
No. I don’t use apps. I drive wherever. That’s it. I don’t use apps, I don’t read blogs. With blogs, everyone has different opinions. Someone will say Iceland is good in the summer, while other people will say it’s good in the winter so I really don’t rely on anyone’s recommendation. My technique is I stay in a place a minimum of 10 days and then see where I end up because I need to study the destinations for my clients.
But this is based on my experience and my life because I usually travel for work, not vacation.

Do you splurge when you travel or stay within a budget?
I put my comfort above everything else when I travel. I’m willing to pay for my comfort. I don’t do backpacking because it’s bad for my back. I always look after myself. What I mean when I say comfort is that like earlier this morning I had to pay 30 Euros just to work out but I was willing to pay for it because it’s for my health. I don’t shop. I only buy what I need. Because again, I don’t like complicating things. I don’t like having too many choices. If I need one sweater, I’ll just have one sweater. One jacket, one jacket. That’s it! It’s so easy! If wake up call time is at 8 I wake up at 7. Wash my face, brush my teeth, shower, put on my clothes, grab my jacket, done!
I deal with so many things so I don’t really have time to deal with small things like what I’m going to wear when I could spend that time answering my emails and making money. I guess you can say my priorities are different!
What is your most memorable experience while on your travels?
My Greenland Trip. I was on a boat for 12 days. No reception, nothing! You can’t text, you can’t call. No internet. I was with scientists, doctors. Yeah, that was the best trip of my life.
What are the best travel tips you've learned throughout your adventures?
Pack wisely and talk to locals. That’s the reason for traveling right? You want to escape from your world. If you’re just going to stay with your friends and not talk to anyone, just stay at home. Why did you travel? Why did you spend a lot of money if you’re just going to stay in your comfort zone? I think nowadays, people just travel for social media; no one visits museums, no one talks to people, they just want to travel to create their feeds and to update their Instagram accounts, end of the story. That’s what I notice with some of my clients, people I deal with and with people I talk to. They travel for social media. Yun lang. We have so many clients that we book to enter the Louvre museum but they don’t go inside. So when I ask them “Did you see Mona Lisa?” they don’t know. Ano yun? Ganun na ngayon. It’s just about the outside lang, inside it’s nothing. So ayun, that’s what I’m pushing, that’s why I’m leading tours to these places all over the world so people will get to see what’s outside Paris, what’s outside New York and what’s outside Rome.

If you could pick one destination from all the places that you've been to, which would you recommend to someone and why?
I would recommend Greenland, Bhutan,Tibet. I don’t like cities because it’s like you’re not escaping from anything. You’re just there. Better city lang, kung nasa Manila ka you just escaped to a better city. You see people rushing to their jobs and everything, falling in line to eat lunch. That doesn’t really interest me when I’m travelling.
